SCN Activities: The SCN "One-Stop-Shop" Food and Nutrition Resource Portal


The SCN "One-Stop-Shop" Food and Nutrition Resource Portal has been developed as part of the new SCN website. The Resource Portal provides access to nutrition resources published by the SCN as well as those published by the SCN members from the three constituencies. The Portal aims to provide the platform through which the agencies and organizations participating in the SCN can market their publications and resources to the SCN network worldwide.

The Lancet Nutrition Series Paper 5 cites the lack of clear programme guidance as one of the shortcomings of the international nutrition system. Given its tripartite structure, the SCN website is a unique portal to access policy and programme guidance developed by the agencies and organizations and provides a platform to promote cooperation among UN agencies and partner organizations. 

Building on the existing Food&Nutrition Library CD Rom, the Resoruce Portal is organized so that each resource is attributed with a set of characteristics to allow filtering according to document type, nutrition themes and sub-themes, life-cycle focus and geographical regions and countries.
