Westminster University is running its annual 5 day Nutrition in Emergencies short course between 1 - 5 July 2013. The course is aimed at staff of UN agencies, NGOs and National Ministries of Health in countries that are regularly affected by emergencies. Health workers, nutritionists, doctors, nurses as well as programme managers are encouraged to apply as well to get an update of the current standards and practices in nutrition in emergencies training.

The course is taught by humanitarian practitioners from a wide range of backgrounds including international NGOs and teaching & research institutes. All sessions are led by experts who bring in practical examples. The lead facilitator has over 20 years' experience in various rapid onset and slow onset emergencies worldwide and will ensure participants´ own experience is discussed during sessions if relevant.

Vos Risk Consulting is organizing a course on Animal Agriculture and Food Safety Risk Analysis, which starts with the basic principles of risk assessment and where it fits in to the risk analysis process. It also looks at resource, strategy and communication issues that management faces in risk assessment. It covers some basic modeling principles, and gets the participants used to the risk analysis modeling environment. Essential probability and statistics theory and various stochastic processes will also be looked at. After day three the focus is more on producing models that risk managers can put their faith in.

The course will be held in the center of Ghent, Belgium between 24 and 28 June, 2013. The cost is $ 2,495.00 [Early Bird Price $2,245.00] with discounts available for early registration and to postgraduate students.

Who Should Attend? Animal health, microbial, antimicrobial and toxicological food safety risk assessors and risk managers, as well as statisticians and scientists providing input to a risk assessment.

Each participant will receive a certificate upon completion of the course.

The IDS (Institute of Development) is organizing a Summer School course on Transforming Nutrition Ideas, Policy and Outcomes from 15 to 19 July 2013, Brighton, UK.
