What you can do

The SCN is a forum where UN agencies, Bilateral Partners and NGOs/CSOs come together to exchange information and discuss nutrition related issues. It provides a unique mechanism for effectively linking agriculture and health for good nutrition and for the UN agencies and its partners to work together to reinstall nutrition at the top of the international agenda. This requires attention to nutrition by a range of actors from multiple sectors and disciplines. You may contribute by advocating for the critical role of nutrition in development, by making your organization join the SCN network, or by taking and active role in one of the SCN Working Groups.

Advocate for the critical role of nutrition as a foundation for development and particularly for reaching the Millennium Development Goals. The SCN has published a range of publications highlighting different aspects of nutrition and why nutrition is important, and will provide the entry point to a broad variety of nutrition resources through the new SCN “One-Stop-Shop” Food and Nutrition Resource Portal. Stay informed of major nutrition events and news from the SCN network through signing up for the SCN Email Update.

Make your organization join the SCN network. The SCN network is open to all and includes most of the major players in the international food and nutrition. The participating organizations and agencies discuss nutrition issues and concerns at the annual SCN Sessions or through the SCN Working Groups. The SCN will be pleased to include and highlight your nutrition resources in the “One-Stop-Shop” Food and Nutrition Resource Portal.

Join one or several of the thematic SCN Working Groups, contributing to their harmonizing, information sharing, advocacy and review tasks in the substantive nutrition areas. The SCN Working Groups host meetings at the annual SCN Sessions which are open to all. The reports from these meetings are available from each Working Group webpage. For more information about a specific Working Group, please contact the Working Group Chairs or the SCN Secretariat.
