The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World Report

The 2017 edition of the State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World (SOFI) report highlights that, after steadily declining for over a decade, global hunger is again on the rise, affecting 815 million people in 2016. The global community runs the risk of failing to achieving SDG2 if the world continues along its current trajectory.  The increase is largely due to the proliferation of violent conflicts and climate-related shocks. The report is the result of 5 UN agencies collaboration (FAO, WFP, IFAD, UNICEF, WHO). Regional versions of the SOFI will be launched in the coming months, building off the momentum of the global report.
