The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World 2018

The publication highlights global progress towards ending hunger, and focuses on the importance of building climate resilience for food security and nutrition. The report provides an updated estimate of the number of hungry people in the world, including regional and national breakdowns, and the latest data on child stunting and wasting, adult obesity and child overweight, as well as other nutrition indicators. This year’s focus is on how climate variability and extremes are threatening to erode and reverse gains made in ending hunger and malnutrition, by harming agricultural productivity, contributing to shortfalls of food availability and impacting food utilisation.
